Learners 65+ register here to join teaching artist Samilia Pelshak for this five-week course exploring the fundamentals of sewing!

Participants learn basic skills, including understanding fabric types, reading and using patterns, operating a sewing machine, and mastering basic stitching techniques. Through guided instruction and hands-on practice, participants develop the ability to select appropriate materials, cut and assemble fabric, and apply finishing touches, ultimately crafting a finished product.

This five-week course meets on Mondays from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library in L-56 on July 28, August 4, August 11, August 18, and August 25. Participants must attend all five sessions.
