Join teaching artist Samilia Pelshak for this 4-week course exploring the fundamentals of sewing. Participants learn basic skills including understanding fabric types, reading and using patterns, operating a sewing machine, and mastering basic stitching techniques. Through guided instruction and hands-on practice, participants develop the ability to select appropriate materials, cut and assemble fabric, and apply finishing touches, ultimately crafting a finished product.

This 4-week course meets on Tuesdays from 12pm-2pm at Orange Mound Library on 5.6, 5.13, 5.20, and 5.27. Must attend all four sessions.

Intro to Sewing is a FREE Studio Course for learners 65+ offered by Creative Aging Memphis in partnership with Memphis Public Libraries. This partnership is supported by ARTSmemphis, the H.W.
