One of the longest running book clubs in the MPL system, the Central Readers Club meets regularly on the 2nd Monday evening of each month.
This month's book selection is The Story Keeper, a 2014 novel by bestselling author Lisa Wingate. In the dual timeline story, a successful New York City book publisher discovers part of a crumbling turn-of-the-20th-century manuscript with a story so compelling that uncovering the rest of the narrative will force her to revisit her own troubling Appalachian past that she has considered a forever-closed and forgotten chapter of her life.
Book selections are made periodically by the group, pulling from a wide variety of genres and subject matter. The group places an emphasis on selecting titles with numerous copies available to borrow from the Library.
When possible, copies of each month's selection will be available to borrow from the Humanities Department reference desk on the 2nd floor of the Benjamin L. Hook Central Library (while supplies last!).
New members are always welcome, so don't hesitate to join us at our next meeting, even if you haven't had a chance to read the book!
