Event Details
Writing In Interesting Times” is a course designed to educate and cultivate the writing skills and tools necessary to inspire the Memphis community to find their voice, express their vision, and tell their stories—regardless of the forces of history around us.
Thematically, this course will cover topics related to motivating, educating, and inspiring new and returning writers to commit to their work during a time of distraction. The objectives are: Understanding the writing process through routine and time management, as well the processes of drafting and revision. Cultivating creative inspiration through reading and writing exercises that allows students to discover their authentic creative voice and style. Developing writing skills and the writer’s toolkit by focusing on fundamentals such as grammar, style, and structure, but also through the elements of storytelling and the spectrum of literary genres. Creating opportunities for personal growth through self-expression, confidence building, and the pleasure of learning to uniquely craft an authentic expression in the written word.
Registration recommended but not required.
