Event Details

Making Magic Potions and Secret Formulas in CLOUD901

Description: This creative program is designed to celebrate the spirit of Halloween. Participants will learn how to make unique Oobleck— a non-Newtonian fluid that changes its flow based on the pressure applied— and various slime solutions. Oobleck, named after the mysterious substance from Dr. Seuss's Bartholomew and the Oobleck, serves as a hands-on demonstration of different phases of matter. After creating their mixtures, teens will choose containers and decorate labels for their "magic potion" or "secret formula."

Objective: This program aims to enhance teens' abilities to follow instructions and understand the concept of non-Newtonian fluids. It encourages creativity and imagination, allowing participants to personalize their formulas with glitter and food coloring, as well as to design original labels. Participants will keep their creations, which can be used as decorations or props in future projects.

Operation: Teens can choose to make either Oobleck or slime. They can use food coloring (including glow-in-the-dark options), glitter, and small charms to make their solutions unique. Participants will select either a plastic corked container for their "magic potion" or a plastic test tube for their "secret formula." They will also have access to adhesive blank labels and markers to create their labels.
