Learn the art of tufting and create your own custom rug from start to finish. In this hands-on camp, a small group of teens will design and produce a rug that can be used as a bold wall piece or a cozy accent for your floor.
Participants will learn how to use specialized Makerspace tools, including a tufting gun, tufting frame, yarn threading tools, and backing materials. Teens will develop practical skills such as transferring a design onto tufting cloth, controlling a tufting gun, working with yarn textures and color combinations, and finishing a rug with adhesive backing and trimming techniques. Not only will you walk away with a one-of-a-kind rug, but you’ll also get familiar with key tools in the CLOUD901 Makerspace. Supplies and tools will be provided free of charge.
Due to the space, equipment, and time required for tufting, this camp is limited to a small number of participants.
