Event Details
For Black History month, "The Black History Corner" presents the first of three series of read-alouds for children to learn about the historical achievements of blacks in America. We kick off this series featuring a reading about Ruby Bridges, a civil rights activist and the first African American child to attend formerly whites-only William Frantz Elementary School in Louisiana during the New Orleans school desegregation crisis on November 14, 1960. An art activity will follow the reading.
