Friends! Romans! Countrymen! Lend me your ears!
Join us at Randolph Library for a fun and light hearted recognition of the most infamous date in March (March 15), upon which in 44 BC Roman general and dictator Julius Caesar was assassinated by a group of Roman senators.
We will wrap ourselves in togas and have a brief discussion about the historical setting of the Roman Republic/Empire, as well as analyze how the event is depicted in William Shakespeare's eponymous drama, "Julius Caesar." We will then watch and listen to a few different performances of Marc Antony's famous funeral speech from the play for inspiration before taking turns on the (imaginary) stage and delivering the monologue ourselves!
No background or experience with acting is necessary-- we're here to have fun and be a little silly!
