Program Description

Event Details

For June, A Wider Angle, our monthly film series highlighting independent global cinema, will screen the 2020 Danish crime drama Wildland (Kød & Blod, or Flesh and Blood, in its home country) co-written and directed by debut director Jeanette Nordahl. The film was nominated for Best First Feature at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival.

After her mother is killed in a car accident, 17-year-old Ida moves in with her aunt Bodil whom she hasn't seen since infancy. Bodil and her three sons (cousins to and all slightly older than Ida) lead a tender and warm emotional and (perhaps overly) physical family life at home, which belies the violent criminal enterprise Bodil and the boys run for a living. When a "job" goes horribly awry, Ida must navigate swiftly changing loyalties among her new family in order to protect her own interests.

In Danish with English subtitles. (Running time 88 minutes)
