Event Details
Are you an aspiring writer with Memphis memories? Join us for a Memphis-focused writing workshop where you can sharpen your pen, connect with community and learn about some local history. In this 4-week series led by University of Memphis writing faculty we’ll use historical materials from DIG Memphis, Memphis Public Libraries’ digital archive, for writing prompts and craft instruction. We’ll draw on Memphis history to shape plot and narrative structure, use historical photographs to craft scenes and characters, and explore Memphis streetscapes to hone our descriptive writing. At the end of the series, we’ll celebrate with a reading and reception and participants will receive a bound copy of their work.
The workshops will be held at the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:00 pm. Registration is required.
