Literature with Lovie! 

Channel your creativity in writing and art in this week-long summer camp. Discover the ins and outs of zines and create your own about a topic you’re passionate about. Participants will be provided with: 

Free chess tutorials for all ages. Beginners are invited to learn to play, and veterans are welcome to challenge each other to a friendly match of strategy and tactics. For this event we will meet in our main lobby behind the escalators.

Enjoy a fun and interactive story time where books come to life through music! This special session combines singing, movement, and storytelling to engage young children and their caregivers in a joyful, musical experience.

 Join us for a pre-college crash course in seminal black literature! All materials will be provided. No pre-reading or prior knowledge required. 

This five day teen program is designed to explore various topics of what makes communities and cultures unique, including religion, race, culture, politics, social class, gender and more.

Participants will learn general principles of IoT devices and programming (i.e. Arduino based), why they are important, how they pertain to everyday life, and how to use tools.

Children will challenge themselves and see how many puzzles they can put together.

South Branch Library has a treasure trove of legos waiting to be built. Join our Lego club every other Wednesday at noon and grab a pile. We can't wait to see what you make. 

Let's make a balloon lantern! On the first day of this workshop, you'll make a lantern using a balloon, tissue paper, and lots of glue! The next day, come back and apply decorations and a final layer of tissue paper and glue.

Want to learn how to play D&D? Join us every Wednesday in June & July in the Teen Loft as an experienced DM will lead a quest designed for beginners (though teens with all experience levels are welcome to join). 

Children get a chance to explore origami, a traditional Japanese art form.  With various folds, brightly-colored squares of paper can be transformed into objects, including animals, flowers, boxes, and more.

Learn to crochet and make your very own beanie in this 5-week program, guided by MPL’s Caitlin Prilliman. By the end of the summer, you’ll have the skills to create a stylish beanie from start to finish! Open to all skill levels.
